His body is many guys' envy and many girls' eye candy. But in a strange turn of events, the tables turned when men here shrieked till they were hoarse for Bollywood actor John Abraham to strip off his T-shirt for them.

Call it the star appeal or the post-"Dostana" effect, men - young and middle-aged - burnt the torrid atmosphere with their cries for the 36-year-old at the Diet Pepsi 'Go Play John + You' mass work-out session at Ansal Plaza, Khelgaon Marg, here Sunday evening.

Shouting "We want John, we want John" before the star was to make an appearance on the stage, the male lot completely subdued the low-pitched voices of the fairer sex with repetitive chants of "T-shirt, T-shirt" that reverberated the open-air auditorium. They wanted the actor to peel off.

"Come on dude, hit it (T-shirt)...you got to take it out today and beat Salman (Khan) off his birthright, " shouted Saurabh Kejriwal, a student from Amity University in Noida.

Ashish Damani, a 24-year-old businessman, echoed the same but with a different purpose.

"Do it for my girl John, please...she worships you, " he cried in disappointment.

However, the "Jism" star did not. But he obliged the masses by giving away complimentary T-shirts.

"See, that (flaunting his body) was in a movie. Otherwise I am very very shy...Well, if I take-off my T-shirt, then what will I wear, " quipped the actor, clad in a body hugging white T-shirt and trousers and earthy summer coolers on the foot.

John, who is the first Indian brand ambassador of Diet Pepsi, also unveiled the soft drinks' slim can in the consumer launch set-up.

As the people worked out, a total of 265, 000 calories was burnt during the event. An equivalent amount of rupees was announced to be given to non-profit organisation Conserve to create environmental awareness among the youth.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming next starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has finally got its title. It has been titled, Guzaarish. The film is scheduled to go on floors by end of 2009.

Reportedly, this film is a remake of Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed hit, The Prestige. It was also speculated whether who would be producing the films along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Bhansali’s last film was a co-production with Hollywood giant Sony Picture Company.

Our industry sources claim, the Hrithik – Aish starrer is a 50-50 joint venture between Bhansali and UTV. Now incidentally, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s last film together, Jodhaa Akbar was also a UTV production.

Reportedly, Salman Khan is miffed with Bhansali and has vowed never to work with him again.

Reason being, it was his idea to the bearded maker to remake the Hollywood dark thriller, but Bhansali kept him in the dark and began the project with Hrithik instead.

Priyanka Kothari, who has barely recovered from the injury that she had suffered during the outdoor shooting schedule of 'Agyaat', was recently left gasping for breath, courtesy some innovative format of 'Yoga' that she indulged in.

On suggestion of a friend, she opted for 'Hot Yoga' classes, a new concept in India. However, after attending just one class, she swore off it and promised herself that she would never be going back anywhere close to the venue.

"Can you believe it, they put you into a room, lock the doors and set the temperature to 50 degrees? And then it is expected that you would get into some full on intense 'Yoga'.

Come on, there are far better ways of maintaining your body and in my list, this unique form of 'Yoga' would come last", says an exasperated Priyanka as she remembers the torturous grill that she had to go through.

"One fine day I got a call from someone from my gym who suggested that I attend these 'Hot Yoga' classes. Since I was recovering from injury and was willing to experiment with things that could help me get back to shape sooner, I was game for it.

Those one and a half hours that I spent in the closed room would easily count as some of my most tiring moments ever.

I tried following all the instructions but once I came out of the class, I was already half dead", Priyanka narrates her plight.

No wonder, she decided there and then that she was back to her good old gym rather than an experimental trip like this.

"Bombay mein already itni garmi toh phir uske upar aise garmi waale mahaul mein exercise karne ki kya zaroorat hai (When Bombay is already so hot, I don't see any reason why one should get into a cauldron like this and work out)", smiles Priyanka who would soon be back on sets to shoot for 'Agyaat'.

She has another reason for not really being charmed by 'Hot Yoga'.

"Tell me, isn't one of the major most criteria for benefiting from 'Yoga' is to breath well", she questions, "This is why worldwide it is practised in open air. No wonder I found the entire concept of doing it in a closed room quite funny. It was claustrophobic."

She doesn't mince any words when it comes to the trainers of 'Hot Yoga'.

"These were some firangs who were in charge of this entire activity. Come on, the entire world is following 'Yoga' which is practiced by us Indians and here we had some outsiders trying to tell us what to do", she says in a humorous tone.

"I would rather rely on my own folks who have been doing this so very successfully for thousands of years rather than some newbie who is just so willing to change the very format of this beautiful way of keeping your body healthy."

The song will be the same ‘Too hot Too cool’ with some minor changes to it. No new song has been recorded this year. The music video will now also have an African feel to it with slight changes to the music. ”

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has spoken out against allegations that she is a 'marriage-breaker', saying she started a relationship with her fiance Raj Kundra only after he got divorced.

Shilpa, 33, found fame in Britain when she appeared alongside late British reality TV star Jade Goody in Celebrity Big Brother and won the series. She met millionaire Kundra, 34, shortly afterwards.

Kundra was separated when he met Shilpa, but his estranged wife Kavita publicly blamed the actress for the break-up of the marriage.

"It actually made me feel physically ill. To be called a marriage-breaker was the worst thing possible.

It brought such shame on to my parents, and I felt so bad for their sake, " the Daily Mail online quoted her as saying.

"To be honest, I think I was in love with Raj from day one but I was in denial.

I made it clear to him that our relationship could go no further than friendship until he actually had his divorce, " she added.

The couple, who recently bought a five-million-pound, seven-bedroom mansion that they named Raj Mahal in Weybridge, Surrey, is planning to marry around October, and Shilpa says she can't wait to start a family.

"I'm desperate to start a family. I just love children, and we've a beautiful readymade nursery (in the new house). I want at least two children.

"There is already a child's bedroom in London because Raj has a nephew and I can certainly see my children running around this place.

And there is enough space for us to live at one end while Raj's parents live at the other. In Indian culture you live as an extended family and this home is perfect for that, " she added.

Sources reveal, “The shooting schedule of KJo’s yet untitled film starring Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi few weeks back went haywire as many dues of local production people were not cleared.

Financial trouble had erupted on the sets because of the same. But the fault wasn’t Karan’s Dharma Productions’ as it is famous for its fair deal treatment especially when shooting abroad. The person responsible for all this financial mess was the local line producer.

The line producer had committed many financial frauds in name of Dharma Productions which lead to all these problems. Because of which unnecessarily Karan’s production company got a bad name in the US.

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif looked so gora together on screen in Kabir Khan’s New York that one of them had to tone down the fairness-quotient.

And naturally, the chosen one was Neil. He had to use tanned makeup in the film. Laughs Neil, “All three of us Katrina, John and I are light complexioned. John had a nice dark tan during the shooting in Philadelphia. But it was a fight between me and Katrina on who was looking fairer. She used to accuse me of looking more fairer than her.”

Eventually Neil had to settle for a tan to tone down his ‘fairness’. And not just in New York. He also had to tan himself in Aa Dekhe Zara for totally opposite reasons. Bipasha being dusky, Neil had to tone down his fair skin to match his co-star’s complexion.

“In fact I’ve become used to tanning my skin by now, for one reason or another,” laughs Neil.

About Aa Dekhe Zara Neil is excited for more reasons than one. “It’s a film about seeing the future through the camera. We haven’t gone into the futuristic space at all. It breaks the myth about super-hero films. All super-heroes save the world. My character in Aa Dekha Zara is only interested in saving himself.”

As for his successful singing father Nitin Mukesh was scared Neil would let down not so much the legendary grandfather Mukesh as the equally-illustrious Kishore Kumar’s legacy.

Says Neil, “I’ve chosen to make my singing debut with a Kishore Kumar rather than my grandfather’s number which is fine by my family. We are all Kishore Kumar fans in my family.

It would’ve been one thing to take one of my grandfather’s songs and turn it around. Ghar ki baat and all that. But this was a very special responsibility, to carry another legendary singer’s legacy forward. Glad I managed it.”

With the Oscars just finished and the victorious Indian brigade back, it was time for the Filmfare Awards.

The prestigious awards function held at Yash Raj studios in Andheri had a glittering array of stars from the world of film with stalwarts like the Bachchan family, Rekha, Yash Chopra, SRK, Karan Johar and many more.

Not to be left behind were the fast rising newcomers, who set the pace for the function, with Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan hosting the show.

The highlights of the show were not just the awards but the performances that left the audience in absolute wonder. Here's a quick look at what happened at the Filmfare Awards this year:

Starting off this trail of spectacular showmanship was the Imran and Ranbir, the duo who were the hosts for the evening. Infusing young blood into the age old industry has always thrown up stunning performances.

The duo were quite literally the life of the evening, engaging the audience as well as tickling the funny side of all present, with their constant antics and spoofs on recent hit films.

With Imran as his uncle from the record breaking Ghajini and Ranbir as SRK from Rab Ne…, the act surely garnered laughs and applauds as the cold war between the Khan’s seems to die down.

But if you thought that this was the high point, then you are wrong, as the duo accompanied by Karan seemed to be engaged in a spoof on Dostana.

How can there be any event without a local rock band performance!

They live for the magic in the sound, distorted guitars breaking ground, the drums pounding faster than thy heart, the vocals screaming extreme art, the passion for music drove them forth, the best of it coming from their oath.

The powerful tunes, a spectacular show, the audience screams in ecstasy… that was exactly what it was like, when Farhan Akhtar and group (Ehsaan and Loy) set the sound waves churning with renditions from their film Rock On!

It's not everyday that a newcomer whose film hasn't yet released gets a chance to perform live at an awards nite. But with Jackky Bhagnani the case was a bit different, as he set the tempo racing with an energetic and awe-inspiring dance performance on a track from his upcoming film.

Helping him find a way to the other side will be his film Kal Kissne Dekha, and maybe this aspiring star will reach the zenith of the fame and popularity in films. We wish him luck with his debut film.

In the end we have the star who currently is at the best phase of his career. He is none other than Shahid Kapoor.

After his film Jab We Met, he was bestowed with the nickname Sha-Hit Kapoor. However, it wasn't just his acting that got him that acclaim, as it is visibly evident from his performance that he can quite literally set the stage afire with his dance performance.

Whatever be the case, Shahid gave the audiences a lot to watch and think about with his chiseled physique and stunning moves.

However, the best part of the entire award ceremony was the line up of celebrities. How often will you ever get a chance to see the Bachchan parivaar and the King Khan sit side by side?

Kolkata has just found a new Bahu. When earlier this week he landed in Kolkata for the shooting of Mani Ratnam’s film (tentatively titled Raavan) Abhishek Bachchan got the welcome of a prodigal son. Abhishek’s father is regarded as Bengal’s Jamai Babu, as Jaya Bachchan happens to be Bengali.

A few years ago when father and son Bachchan were shooting simultaneously in Kolkata the senior AB had said, “Earlier they cheered for me. Now they cheer for my son. ”

“Not true, ” says Abhishek. “Even today if we both come to Kolkata together the crowds will be rooting for him. This time I got a super-enthusiastic welcome because this was my first visit to Kolkata with Aishwarya. ”

But Aishwarya Rai Bachchan isn’t even remotely Bengali !

Explains Abhishek, “I think it has to do with the very powerful work she has done with Rituparno Ghosh in Chokher Bali and Raincoat. Bengal has adopted her as a daughter-in-law.

I too have done some very important films in Kolkata Ritu’s Aantar Mahal and Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. And I must say I got a rousing welcome in Kolkata every time. But nothing compared with the way I was received this time. ”

Aishwarya had been shooting gruelling scenes in Kolkata for Mani’s film on the Ganges.

Abhishek describes Kolkata as a big morale booster. “Every time I feel demoralized I should make a trip to Kolkata. They just smother you in their love. ”

Everywhere that Abhishek and his wife go in Kolkata the crowds are sure to follow. “Mani’s film and then Abhinay Deo’s where Aishwarya and I come together again are sure to warmly received in Bengal.” exults Abhishek.

Irrfan Khan The Slumdog Millionaire (SM) producers - Fox-Searchlight now want to make a film with Irrfan in the lead.

Says Irrfan, "The studio head Peter Rice came to me and said he'd now like to make a film with me in the lead. Do you know Peter Rice is responsible for the film's release? Otherwise it was going straight into a DVD release.

Danny Boyle was in a panic mode and was ready to take the DVD offer. But the makers decided to take the film to Toronto and show it to Fox-Searchlight. They chased me all over the world to get some lines re-done, took the film to Toronto. Luckily, Fox- Searchlight loved SM."

Irrfan can't stop marveling at what is happening to the film. "Look at destiny. Look at the kids! People are going mad over Freida Pinto. The photographers won't leave her in peace for even a second.

Freida has signed Woody Allen and Dev Patel has signed Manoj Shyamalan. We're going to see much more Bollywood-Hollywood collaborations in future."

Back in Mumbai, Irrfan Khan and Oscars-winner Resul Pookutty had to be whisked hurried out on a police van from Mumbai's airport. "When we landed we had no idea what crowds were waiting for us until we were told it was difficult for us to step outside. We had leave in a police van."

Recalling the Oscars experience Irrfan says, "We never doubted that Slumdog Millionaire would get the Oscars.

The minute we stepped on to the red carpet at the Kodak theatre they were shouting our names. The mood was, how could you not give this film the Oscars?

Our producers Fox -Searchlight were really anxious. They got the Best Film Oscar after 40 years. I think the kids in SM did the trick. They won over the global audiences' hearts. We grown-up actors were the bonus."

The fruits of the Slumdog Millionaire (SM) experience at the Oscars and global box-office are already ripening.

While Anil Kapoor seemed to be enjoying every second of his glamorous avtar on the red carpet, Irrfan says he's very much ill-at-ease doing it. "I love going to film festivals. But not to these red-carpet thingies."

Recalling his touchdown at the Mumbai airport after the Oscars Irrfan says, "I felt like the bridegroom at a baraat. It was so moving. The reception I got at the Mumbai airport was equal to any Oscar."

He recalls his association with Resul Pookutty who won the Oscar. "Resul and I started our careers at the same time. Resul kept working silently for a decade. He deserves this recognition. As for me I was pleasantly surprised to be recognized in LA as the actor from The Namesake and A Mighty Heart."

In fact Irrfan has been selected by Forbes magazine as one of the 6 Bollywood faces that have made an impact in Hollywood.

"That was news to me, and very pleasant news at that. I've waited long for this recognition. I became a recognizable name abroad after The Namesake. But I wish it had happened after Warrior.

In the truest sense it changed my life. It came at a time when I was losing heart regarding the roles coming my way. I was thinking of changing professions. I was quite bored.

I became an actor to explore my emotions and go beyond the mundane, like Dilip Kumar and Naseeruddin Shah did. I wanted to experience something magical. Warrior gave me that chance."

One can recollect Farhan Akhtar’s Don remake Don – The Chase Begins being a mega Diwali release in the year 2006 and now Farhan is planning to make his Don sequel a grand Diwali release of 2010.

We had earlier asked Farhan about the shoot delay plans and he had replied, “Don 2 requires a summer shoot and since in the summer of 2009 both me and Shah Rukh being both busy with our acting assignments the shoot for our film will only begin next summer which is of 2010.”

Our source however now reveals, “Don 2 which also stars Priyanka Chopra opposite SRK will start its shooting from April 2010. The director turned actor turned singer, who has been busy facing the camera with Rock On and Luck By Chance, has no time to wield the director’s baton until the summer of next year.

Our source further added, “Direction is Farhan’s first love and he likes to direct films, but only one film in two - three years. He did Dil Chahta Hai in 2001, Lakshya in 2004, Don in 2006 and so in 2010, one will see a film from him, for sure.

Don 2 was being planned since it was being scripted for the first film. Farhan is presently busy writing the script and doing the pre -production work required for such a film as the audiences will be expecting a lot from it.”

The story of Don 2 will take off from where Don ended. The surprise ending was a complete departure from the original version. And keeping with Akhtar’s penchant for making films with a difference, one can definitely expect the unexpected with his sequel.

There has been a bit of a health scare at the Roshans’ residence when on the evening of the Filmfare awards Hrithik’s mom fell ill.

But now Sunayna Roshan is well on the way to recovery.

Informs Hrithik, “She’s well now. Everything will be fine in time. But she’s okay now.”

Hrithik regrets missing out on the getting his Filmfare award for Jodhaa-Akbar. “It was a special film on many counts. It was my first historical and costume drama and I’m unlikely to do another of thise for a long time. Jodha-Akbar was radical departure from anything I’ve done so far. And I couldn’t have asked for a better culmination after two years of gruelling hard work.”

Alas, God had other plans. On the evening of the awards mom Pinky Roshan fell ill.

Says Rakesh Roshan, “We were all getting ready for the Filmfare awards, looking forward to Hrithik bringing home another trophy when my wife complained on uneasiness. We couldn’t take a risk because she has a had a heart scare earlier.”

However contrary to reports the first lady of the Roshan household didn’t have to be rushed to a hospital.

“It never came to that, ” says Rakesh Roshan. “We called the doctor home and Pinky’s condition was under control after medication.

Anything could’ve happened. That’s is why we decided to regretfully cancel our evening at the Filmfare awards. But I ‘m sure there will be many more occasions for Hrithik to get awards.And please pray that my entire family attends future Filmfare functions.”

Last Sunday was one of Bipasha's worst days ever. On Sunday afternoon Bipasha gave all her dear ones a scare when a flying pebble lodged itself straight inside her ear, almost tearing her eardrums.

Shuddering at the bizarre turns and twists of the day Bipasha says, "We were doing a heavyduty action scene when this gravel went right inside my ear. I had to be taken to Leelavati where it had to be sucked out. "

On the surface this doesn't sound serious. "But it wasn't on the surface. It went right in. And I couldn't move because there was the danger that it would go in deeper and pierce the eardrums.

First I tried to shake it out. Then when that didn't work I decided to let a doctor do the needful."

Sunday being an off day no doctors were available. "The producer and director tried everything. We finally headed towards Leelavati. It was John who got an old ENT specialist-friend of his to check me out. The sweet doctor was at another hospital. But he drove down to Leelavati and at 4.30 pm he finally put me out of my misery."

But it was good 3 hours of trauma for Bipasha. "Who would think such a thing would happen? Normally during an action scene you protect your knees, head, etc. But ear? It went straight in with a thud.

I wasn't moving I was so petrified the gravel would go deeper into my ear. My parents were petrified. The minute the doctor said it could be taken out I was okay. It was the most bizarre thing that ever happened to me."

That wasn't the end of Bipasha's Sunday trauma. "It was virtually double jeopardy for me on Sunday. After getting my ear rectified when my parents, sister and I returned home we got stuck in the lift while going up to my apartment. And my sister is claustrophobic. So I had to pretend to be calm for her sake until we were rescued."

Bipasha has marked Sunday 14 December as the most terrifying day of her life. " It was the most ridiculous and scary day of my life. And that too on a Sunday when I should've been relaxing. Instead I was doing impossible flips and rollovers ….until God decided to put a pebble in my sand…or should I say sound?"

Hrithik and Barbara Mori will sizzle in Kites

Anurag Basu is super excited about his latest under production film 'Kites'. The film starring Hrithik Roshan opposite Mexican Barbara Mori is about love transcending cultural and language barriers.

In the movie, Barabar Mori's character speaks only Spanish and Hrithik speaks only in Hindi but they end up falling in love.

There is some spice too in the story with a love triangle involving Kangana Ranaut's character and a thriller twist towards the end.

But in spite of all talks about steamy scenes the movie is not about sex but is an intensely romantic film.

He director is working with the very talented and handsome Hrithik Roshan for the first time

He said, "Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to."

He was amazed by Hirthik's professionalism in spite of a knee injury.

He's said, "Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik's knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would've gone for a toss.

But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I'm awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself."

He's impressed by Barbara Mori too.

He's stated, "The day I narrated 'Kites' to her I knew I had chosen the right actress. I've this bad habit of narrating very fast.

Barbara is a Mexican actress, so she knows no Hindi and little English. But the way she understood my story, hats off to her. Her expressions changed while I was narrating the story. I've never seen any actor respond this way.

Even though she comes from a different culture, the emotions of love and relationships are the same. Her approach was definitely different."

Kites will be complete in January of next year and Basu says he is nervous because of the huge expectations surrounding the multilingual film and hopes that it delivers.

Well, we would want the movie on which he worked so hard to deliver too.

Shah Rukh told me that Adi Chopra believed the film was made by 'Rab'. What's your opinion on the quote?
Absolutely correct. Me being a part of this film is also because of 'Rab' because now that I've done this film, in a strange way I believe that everything that has happened in my life before this has kind of structured to get me to this.

In terms of me moving to Mumbai, me not being too exposed in spite of being in the modelling world for quite some time, etc, all helped me get Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. It was entirely Rab's blessings for all of us, not for me alone.

Will the success of Rab Ne take your feet off the ramp?
This film happened by chance but modelling was something that I always wanted to do. I've never said that I wanted to be Miss World or an actress. I just wanted to be a model walking the ramp. Whether I will return back to the ramp is all up to Rab now. Let's see.

Are you happy with the unhappy response from quite a few critics from the media world?
Yeah, I heard that many critics haven't taken the film very well. But that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own individual opinion and they are viewers after all. I respect all the critics' opinion.

How critical were your parents after watching the film?
My elder brother will never pay me any compliment because he is harsh. And so is my dad. After watching the film my brother said, "You can act, huh". For my mother, I'm the best in the world. My dad was impressed though.

You made my friend and colleague who was sitting next to me while watching the film cry. Why?
(Laughs) Really? Actually I wanted everyone to cry. My friends called me up saying that they really enjoyed the film and had fun throughout. But in return I asked them whether they cried watching the same. I wanted them to cry. If someone has cried, they are feeling for you and your character. I guess it's nice in a way.

So tell me, are your parents going to look out for a boy like Surider or Raj for your marriage?
(Laughs) My father always says, "You please go and find a boy for yourself because I doubt if I will ever find one for you". I tend to go the hyper way sometimes which is fine because that's my age.

So if I was ever to find someone for me, the guy has to be like Surinder Sahni. If you are dating a rich brat, how far can you go on is my question and where are you going to go?

You want to be with someone who loves you like Suri does, that is unconditionally. He has to be sweet and genuine. I was watching the film and was cursing my character because I failed to understand why Taani isn't falling in love with him.

You envy Gauri Khan then?
(Laughs out loud) No, not at all. They are such a cute couple. I can never think of that.

Ok, would you leave your husband in real life if you find someone else?
For Taani, she didn't marry out of choice but Anushka Sharma is going to marry out of choice. And when I do get married I will never think of leaving my husband.

Now please close your eyes and tell me where do you see Rab when you open your eyes. I know it's me but still go on, tell me.
(Laughs out loud) Yes, it's you in front of me. But on a serious note, you are not seeing Rab in someone; you see the goodness of Rab in a person. Someone who is so correct like Suri doesn't have a single bad bone in his body. He is such a nice man and is so good to everybody. That's what God is like, right?

You are a classic dancer with a classical grace.
Thank you for the compliment and thanks to my Bharatnatyam classes I did till I was in the seventh standard.

My mother always wanted me to learn classical dancing but I kept running away from it. What you've seen on screen is thanks to Shiamak Davar who helped me for one whole month of training.

When do you plan to go to the UK and show your beautiful face to the country which has accepted you and your film with open arms?
I'm booking my flight with you. Let's go together. That's a good idea isn't it? I've never been to the UK and I'd love to go there once.

You don't need to climb the ladder of success because you are so tall.
(Laughs) You're right. But in the film, I wasn't wearing any heels. If I was, I would've looked taller than Shah Rukh.

Have you been offered any toothpaste commercial because your smile kills?
Oh really. I haven't been offered any toothpaste commercial but the day I get an offer, I'll send you a thank you note.

How similar is Anushka to Taani?
In more ways than one. But Anushka right now is very tired and I've been doing these interviews since morning which will go on till 11pm. Please tell me how do these actors do it. Hats off to them.

I have to learn the tricks of the trade. Sometimes it does get tiring to answer the same questions again and again. I must say, your questions are a welcome relief.

I can't keep my eyes off you and I have to say this, will you come out on a date with me?
(Laughs) Yes, I don't mind but on one condition. You don't have to ask me any questions, I will ask you the same question forty times and you'll have to answer it.

Secondly, we will go the Yash Raj canteen outside for our date. Thirdly, you will have to compliment me, talk all the nice things about me and be very sweet with me. If that's what you can do, I'm up for it.

How about a step forward. Will you marry me Anushka?

Yes, I am going to watch Aamir Khan's Ghajini. I think it's going to be a good film. It's not about competition, nowadays, the more the films do well, better it is for our industry.

Sanjay's amnesia lasts for 15 minutes at a time and he can't remember events or incidents that happen during this period. As a result, Sanjay can now only live any sort of life by tattooing notes on himself and taking pictures to remind him of incidents that have happened.

His story is unravelled by a police officer (Riyaz Khan) hunting him down for several murders he commits while trying to find his girlfriend's killer.

Sanjay's story attracts the attention of psychology student Chitra (Jiah Khan), who stumbles upon Sanjay's medical report during a college project. Chitra comes to know about Sanjay's girlfriend, a model-turned-activist.

With the help of Chitra, Sanjay sets out on a revenge spree, searching for his girlfriend's murderer in this psychological thriller.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, who also made the Tamil version in 2005, this Hindi remake sees Aamir Khan showcasing a beefy and muscled new look.

Ghajini has been shot in a Namibian desert and Cape Town in South Africa.

One often cribs about Yash Raj repeatedly casting SRK in similar roles, in film after film. However, this allegation is far from true. Right from DARR to CHAK DE INDIA, the combination has collaborated on varied subjects. With Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, they take this association to another level altogether.

To start with, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi brings back the golden team of DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE and MOHABBATEIN after a hiatus and the only parallel you can draw with the earlier achievements is the fact that each of them is a love story.

Otherwise, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is truly different. It's not set in London or Switzerland, there's no sarso ke khet, it's not about a good looking couple sporting designer outfits and accessories, there's no parental opposition either.

Set your eyes anywhere and you see countless unknown faces. In markets, malls, streets, airports, stations, just about everywhere. And everyone who walks this planet has a story to tell.

With Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Aditya Chopra talks of one such ordinary person. Living in one of those crowded bylanes of Amritsar, his life undergoes a 360 degree change the moment he sets his eyes on a beautiful girl.

Like SRK does a 360 degree turn in the movie, Aditya Chopra too does a complete turn as far as the story is concerned. Seeped in Indian emotions and traditional values and very desi at heart, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a complete departure from the good-looking, picture perfect YRF movies that sport glam bodies parading designer outfits.

For the present-day generation, a story like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi may come across as an original piece of work, but if you've been a keen observer of films of yore, you can't help overlook the similarities with Dr. V. Shantaram's NAVRANG and more precisely, Raj Kapoor's SATYAM SHIVAM SUNDARAM.

In fact, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi also brings back memories of the low-cost MAIN MERI PATNI AUR WOH [Rajpal Yadav, Rituparna Sengupta], not in terms of story, but in terms of characters.

The problem is, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi works in patches. The first 30 minutes and the penultimate 30 minutes are the highpoint of the enterprise, but the screenplay in between doesn't hold your attention. That's the truth!

In a nutshell, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is no DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE. It's not MOHABBATEIN either. At best, it's an average fare that may generate some curiosity initially, that's it. You expect much, much more, but… alas!

Surinder [Shah Rukh Khan], a simple, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, leads a humdrum life, but the moment he sets his eyes on Taani [Anushka Sharma], his life undergoes a change. She's flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious, unlike Surinder. But unforeseen circumstances bring them together.

Director Aditya Chopra chooses a desi plot and weaves a story around an ordinary, middle class couple. The story begins with gusto and the initial scenes between Shah Rukh and Anushka are thoroughly interesting.

But the screenplay falters the moment Shah Rukh's character Surinder transforms into Raj and his personality undergoes a sea-change. The first question that strikes you is, why didn't Anushka realize it's him, her husband, not someone else?

Sure, he has undergone a complete makeover, but how can you not recognise your husband's voice or appearance? That's a glaring flaw, it's like taking the viewer for granted!

The sequences thereafter are equally uneven. A few sequences are well executed, but the problem is that Shah Rukh keeps playing the game till the very end. If he had to win her heart, he could've done so by making her realize that it's a mirage, making her realize that the person she loves and the person she's married are the same.

There's a twist in the tale only towards the pre-climax, when Anushka is ready to elope with Raj, her dance partner. The climax, the drama that ensues during the finale of the dance competition, is excellent. Even the end [the honeymoon in Japan] brings a smile on your face.

Director Aditya Chopra is letdown by his own writing. The story is not convincing, the screenplay is not water-tight and therefore, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi does not create the impact it ought to make.

Also, the film is quite lengthy. With a running time of approx. 2.45 hours, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi could've easily done with some trimming. The unwanted flab could've been trimmed for a better impact.

Salim-Sulaiman's music is of a mixed variety. 'Haule Haule' is a superb composition and 'Dance Pe Chance' is foot-tapping, but the remaining tracks, though well shot, are plain average. Ravi Chandran's cinematography is top notch.

Shah Rukh is superb as the simpleton and your heart goes out to him every time he appears on screen. You want the underdog to win and here too, the way SRK tackles this part, you're all the more convinced.

As Raj, SRK goes overboard at times. Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance.

It's no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end. Vinay Pathak is incredible. He contributes enormously in making the proceedings lively.

On the whole, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is vey desi at heart with a strong start and an equally strong emotional end.

Having said that, you cannot deny the fact that you expect much, much more from Aditya Chopra. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is no DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE, it's not MOHABBATEIN either. It's lower than that! At the box-office, the business will be better at some multiplexes, while the single screens will be below average.

It's often said that cricket and Bollywood are two major passions of Indians. Director Chandrakant Kulkarni's Meerabai Not Out narrates the story of a cricket enthusiast who goes to the extremes -- even on the day of her engagement -- to watch a game of cricket.

But interesting ideas don't necessarily translate into interesting films. Meerabai Not Out suffers because there's not much meat in its script. It's only during the penultimate moments that things begin to move, but that isn't enough to salvage the situation.

Also, though the film talks of cricket, there's not much excitement for a cricket fanatic either. A sports-based theme works only if the viewer becomes involved in the proceedings, when he/she becomes a participant. In Meerabai Not Out, you're just a mere spectator. This one's more of a love story, actually!

Meera (Mandira Bedi), a mathematics teacher, has been a happy single for quite a while now. The great love of her life has been, and will always remain, cricket and Anil Kumble. The problem that worries her family is Meera's still-single status.

Enter Arjun (Eijaz Khan). Meera realizes that there's more to life than praying for Team India and Anil Kumble. So, while her heart beats for Anil Kumble and India's fortunes, the more important question is: Will Meera be able to commit to her non-striker beau?

Meerabai Not Out may give an impression of being a 'cricket film', but it's misleading. It's primarily a love story. In fact, a major part of the screen time is devoted to the love story, which, frankly, lacks the fizz.

It's only towards the pre-climax, when the lady doesn't show up for her own engagement ceremony on time, that things start moving.

Come to think of it, even that looks far-fetched, for no person in his/her senses would give priority to watch a match on the day of her engagement. And if she had to catch a match, she could've done so on her TV set. Why travel all the way to the stadium?

Despite the hiccups (read faulty writing), director Chandrakant Kulkarni has handled the penultimate sequences well. The cricket match in the end -- between Mahesh Manjrekar and Eijaz Khan -- is interesting. Also, the finale -- Anupam Kher participating in a quiz show and Mandira answering the question right -- is well-treated.

There's not much scope for music in the enterprise. The sole track that merits a mention is the one at the very start (the promotional track). Dialogues are well-worded at places.

Mandira acts her part well. She impresses more towards the finale. Eijaz is confident and if given an opportunity, can only go further. Mahesh Manjrekar doesn't really get scope, except towards the finale. Anupam Kher is efficient. Pratiksha Lonkar is wasted. The actress enacting the role of Manjrekar and Mandira's mother is perfect. Anil Kumble is passable.

On the whole, Meerabai Not Out is a below average fare. At the box-office, this maiden will be run-out in the initial days itself!

Till sometime back, the three-letter word, sex, was considered taboo on the Hindi screen. But it's out of the closet now. Dil Kabaddi goes a step further -- it takes you inside the bedroom of two couples and makes you listen to the bedroom chat that they indulge in, bringing the sex lives out in the open.

Heavily inspired by Woody Allen's 1992 film HUSBANDS & WIVES, Dil Kabaddi is bold and piping hot for the Indian audiences. The question is not whether Indian audiences are ready for a theme like this. The question is, does the script hold your attention for the next 2 hours? Sadly, it doesn't!

Dil Kabaddi has no plot as such and debutante director Anil Senior adopts an abstract style of storytelling. It's more of an assemblage of assorted incidents and individualistic sequences. At several times, the characters keep talking to the camera, talking of their feelings, fantasies and thoughts.

Dil Kabaddi works in bits and spurts, but not in totality. The script suffers mainly because there's no beginning, no middle, no end. Just assemblage of assorted sequences!

Dil Kabaddi is a marital comedy that delves into the lives of two couples who are caught in the web of post-marital boredom. How the couples deal with an irresistible temptation of lurking out of the relationship for some fun is what the film explores. It's essentially a take on some urban relationships.

There's tremendous shock-value in Dil Kabaddi. Just about everything related to the sex life is discussed in this film. A few sequences do register an impact, like the one when Irrfan goes out on a date with his office colleague and ends up doing shirshasana.

Also, Rahul Bose's student demanding a passionate kiss on her birthday. And the sequence at the party when Payal Rohatgi ends up giving aerobic lessons to some senior citizens... But after a point, the narrative gets monotonous and worse, verbose.

Music is strictly functional. Cinematography is striking, especially the hand-held camerawork, which is wonderful.

Dil Kabaddi is rich in performances and that's because of the presence of such accomplished actors. Irrfan Khan is in terrific form. Soha Ali Khan is getting better and better. She's excellent!

Rahul Bose is fabulous. Konkona Sen Sharma is brilliant. Rahul and Konkona's scenes are amazing. Rahul Khanna is first-rate. Payal Rohtagi is good. Saba, as Rahul's student, is a complete natural.

On the whole, Dil Kabaddi has shock-value, but not a strong plot to leave an impact. At the box-office, it caters to a niche audience. It's a film for a handful of multiplexes in a handful of cities. At most places, this 'Kabaddi' will run out of breath. Strictly for adult viewing!

However, things would be finalized by first week of January after the box office results of 'Ghajini' are out.

Every step you take, every move you make... we'll be watchin' you. Have altered the lines of a famous song.

For, this one's applicable for Subhash Ghai, a proficient storyteller, one of the most successful stories from this side of the Atlantic. Irrespective of how his films are received at the ticket window, Ghai's movies are always under scrutiny. You watch every film with a magnifying glass.

Yuvvraaj is no exception!

Ghai's forte has been drama. Recall the dramatic moments in KARZ, VIDHAATA, MERI JUNG, RAM LAKHAN, KARMA, SAUDAGAR. He re-visits the genre with Yuvvraaj. Besides, Yuvvraaj is his most opulent work thus far. It has a sweeping effect, the film makes a stunning visual statement.

Honestly, Yuvvraaj isn't Ghai's best work, but post YAADEIN, KISNA and BLACK & WHITE, Yuvvraaj salvages him, even redeems the storyteller.

The story (Ghai) mirrors a universal truth. Greed leads to disputes and in turn, ruins all relationships. A fact you've heard or witnessed time and again in real life. While the story is captivating, the screenplay doesn't really do justice to the thought. Also, Rahman's music acts as a soothing balm, but the problem is, it takes time to grow on the listener. And that could be a deterrent.

Yet, in all fairness, Yuvvraaj is a notch above the commonplace. If you intend spending your hard-earned money on it or devoting 3 hours of your precious time on Ghai's new outing, chances are you won't regret it.

Deven Yuvvraaj (Salman Khan) is a chorus singer, in love with Anushka (Katrina Kaif). Her father Dr. Banton (Boman Irani), however, is dead against this relationship. Things take a turn when Deven's father passes away and he returns to London to stake claim on his father's wealth.

He meets his two estranged brothers Gyanesh Yuvvraaj (Anil Kapoor) and Danny Yuvvraaj (Zayed Khan) after almost twelve years. But things aren't hunky-dory between them...

Ghai has an eye for visuals and every frame of Yuvvraaj seems like a painting on celluloid. Unmistakably, that's the first thing you notice as Yuvvraaj unfolds.

It takes time to absorb Yuvvraaj. In fact, Ghai doesn't open all his cards at the very outset. It's only when the father (Javed Shaikh) passes away and Mithun Chakraborty, the Executor of the Will, enters the scene that the wheels start moving.

The film gathers momentum after the interval. If the first hour has a few by-now-famous Ghai scenes, the second hour sees Ghai in form, with a number of sequences staying in your memory.

The penultimate 20-25 minutes are the best. Watch Anil go through the handycam with disbelief, watch Anil and Salman's act during the concert, watch Salman's emotional outburst towards the end... also the titles (brings back memories of OM SHANTI OM).

On the flip side, the screenplay is erratic. There're constant highs and lows in this journey, the film works in patches. In fact, the screenplay falls prey to predictability and mediocrity at places.

Ghai handles the dramatic scenes with flourish. Rahman's music is soothing, but you expect more because Ghai's movies are embellished with lilting music that you recall even after 2 or 3 decades. Kabir Lal captures the striking beauty of Europe well. The output is superb. The sets (Omung Kumar) are truly majestic.

Yuvvraaj belongs to Anil Kapoor, who towers above the entire cast and delivers a natural, believable performance. Salman's looks are inconsistent.

At times the boyish look is intact, at times he looks bloated. Ditto for his hairstyle. His performance, however, is better, mainly towards the finale. Zayed tries hard and convinces in a few scenes. Mithun Chakraborty is fantastic in a brief role.

Katrina looks angelic. Despite the focus being on the three men, she registers an impact. Boman Irani is credible, especially in the scene when he steps out of the Operation Theatre towards the end. Aushima Sawhney is confident. Anjan Srivastava and the pack of villains/vamps look straight out of RAM LAKHAN and TAAL.

On the whole, Yuvvraaj is interesting in parts, with the penultimate 20/25 minutes taking the film to an all-time high.

At the box-office, the package (a mammoth cast, Subhash Ghai, A.R. Rahman, the stunning locales of Europe) should ensure a hearty opening and with no major opposition in the forthcoming week, it should keep its investors smiling.

He's confirmed it, "I've always been impressed by his ads. When I heard he was making feature films I was keen to work with him."

With top south Indian heroines demanding exorbitant fees, filmmakers down south are increasingly turning to not so successful Bollywood actresses like Sneha Ullal, Nisha Kothari and Suman Ranganathan to up the glamour quotient of their movies.

"Several Kannada producers feel casting Hindi film actresses, who are not in demand in Bollywood, will enhance the stature of their product.

For instance, Nisha Kothari - she might have been rejected by the Hindi film audience, but the actress is busy in the south. And she is working with stars like Puneet (Raj Kumar) in 'Raaj', " K.C.N. Kumar, producer-distributor of Kannada films, told.

"Another top actor, Upendra, too has been working with many Hindi film heroines like Nethanya, Suman Ranganathan and others. Even fans like watching Bollywood heroines, " Kumar said.

South Indian heroines have hiked their fees and filmmakers can no longer afford to sign them on. The usual budget of Kannada films, starring top actors like Upendra, Darshan, Ganesh and Puneet Raj Kumar, varies between Rs.50 million and Rs.70 million (Rs.5 crores to Rs.7 crores). And signing on a popular actress, who charges Rs.10 million to 20 million, may escalate the total budget.

One hit with a superstar is enough reason for an actress to raise her fees as there has been a significant increase in the number of films being made down south, but there are not many glamorous heroines.

"The producers are opting for Bollywood actresses mainly because they are available at a cheaper cost compared to established south Indian heroines. And these Mumbai-based actors have become popular. Most of them don't shy away from exposing. Any Bollywood actress known for her sex appeal would substantially add to a film's glamour quotient, " said well-known Kannada film producer Mohan.

But director Prem, who has signed Nisha Kothari for "Raaj", says that he chose her because she suited the role.

"The fee of an actress is not my problem. I had seen her films and met her when I was making 'Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe'. When I started work on the film, I thought she would best suit the role. 'Raaj' is a big film for Puneet sir and also for me. We thought of casting a well-known Bollywood heroine and Nisha fitted the bill perfectly, " Prem said.

Sneha Ullal, the Aishwarya Rai look-alike who debuted in Bollywood with "Lucky" opposite Salman Khan, made a successful entry in Telugu films with hit movie "Ullasanga Uthsaahanga". She has also signed an untitled Telugu film with Vaibhav to be directed by Bhanu.

She has now been approached to do a Kannada remake of "Ullasanga Uthsaahanga" featuring top star Ganesh, who is ready to adjust his dates for her.

Girija Oak, who featured in a small role in "Taare Zameen Par" as Aamir Khan's girlfriend, is to star in director Hemanth Hegde's "Housefull".

"It was easy for me to accept Hemanth's offer because I knew his capabilities as a director. I also wanted to make a foray into south Indian films and thought it was a good opening for me, " said Girija, who has also acted in many Marathi films.

The top southern actresses are not only demanding high prices in their home state but in Hindi films too. Asin, who has teamed up with Bollwyood superstar Aamir Khan in "Ghajini", is reportedly charging around Rs.20 million per film.

She has another multi-starrer Hindi film "London Dreams" in her kitty.

Nayantara and Ileana have been demanding over Rs.10 million per film and they get the price they ask for despite delivering box office duds. Thrisha and Shriya too fall in the same bracket.

She has played a supergirl, a supermodel, a superstar and is now back on the silver screen tickling the funny bone as a sassy desi girl.

Priyanka Chopra or Piggy Chops as she is fondly called may be seven years old in the Hindi film industry, but this year has been particularly busy and diverse for her. She is perhaps the only leading star who has had as many as six releases in one year. And most importantly she has played a central role in nearly all of them.

Beginning the year with a special appearance in a medium-budget "My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves", she was then seen as uber stylish superstar in "Love Story 2050". Touted as India's first film set in the future, Priyanka looked the part as a red-head.

The film, marking the launch of Harman Baweja, had some serious money riding on it, but bombed for no fault of the actors.

The rise to the top has been fast but not completely smooth for the former Miss World. Last year saw Priyanka's popularity slipping after the multi-starrer of the year - "Salaam-E-Ishq" - had critics questioning her acting. But she took it as a challenge and worked on her acting as well as sweated it out in the gym.

Diversity within the fold of commercial film format has been the guiding force of Priyanka's career from the very start. She caught people's attention with her unconventional role of a seductress indulging in male harassment in "Aitraaz". She also got nominated for the best supporting female actor for "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy".

As product placement and corporate funding of films increases, female characters are bond to be in the forefront today. After all, women make most purchasing decisions and corporates want them to see and relate to the films that feature their products.

"I couldn't have entered the industry at a better time, " Katrina Kaif is quoted as saying in an interview. "Today, perceptions have changed. How else would you explain the audience accepting me in different roles so wholeheartedly? Bhatts know the best when they mix elements of sex into any genre of movies that are making. They may make movies which do not belong to the erotic genre but skin never fails to make an appearance into their films.

Something like that is visible in their First Look poster of 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' as well where Kangna's bare back makes a cracking appearance.

Though Bhatts and Mohit Suri, director of 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', have pulled all stops in ensuring that the message of horror, scares and chills is passed on to the audience, Kangna's bare back has managed to give an altogether different dimension to the film.

Says Mukesh Bhatt about the design that Vishesh Films has in mind for promoting 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', "We want to convey the right mood of the film without resorting to being gory or too violent. 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', as conveyed by the title, is centered on mystery and this is what remains to be it's true essence."

What makes the look of the film further deadly is the fact that in spite of ample skin show here, there is no apparent element of erotica.

Instead the poster has an international appeal to it with the film's title written on Kangna's back with blood. Also, if one looks closely, Kangna's long fingers are clasped like claws while her teeth are clinched, hence sending the message loud and clear that the film is a fear fest in the offering.

Adds Bhatt, "Raaz-The Mystery Continues deals with issues of the "evil within" the human psyche and how it manifests itself.

It is based on the myths and superstitions that are still widely existent in the contemporary Indian society. The film attempts to challenge one's beliefs about paranormal phenomena. It is about anticipation of fear and the fright residing within ones' self."

Well, with a tagline that goes as 'This Winter...Fear Comes Home', one can well believe that to be the case. A supernatural thriller which also stars Emraan Hashmi and Adhyayan Suman, the film is directed by Mohit Suri.

This is Mohit's fifth film with the Bhatt Brothers. Incidentally, Kangna Ranaut plays a fashion model in 'Raaz-The Mystery Continues' after 'Fashion'.

The film would be releasing all over on 23rd January.

Ramu's next film entitled Agyaat would be something he has never a done before. A film about an invisible predator creating havoc among a group of people in an isolated spot.

An old Hollywood formula. "But never done properly in Hindi cinema. Something like Poseidon Adventure or The Towering Inferno. These were about natural calamities striking a group of people. Mine would've a far less indentifiable enemy, attacking a film crew on an exotic island, "informs Ramu even as he divulges that his media film Rann has been shifted to January 2009.

The film written by two Varma discoveries Punet Varma and Hari will be shot by a debutant photographers Surjo. It will be shot in Sri Lanka from next month. "The media film Rann I'm starting at the end of January 2009.

Agyaat I'll shoot in the Sigria jungles of Sri Lanka. I recently went location hunting there. It was a stunning stretch of wilderness. I've never seen anything so frightening in my life. All the principal photography will be done in Sigria 35 days. Then the special effects will be done in Mumbai.

My Phoonk had very hastily done special-effects. Agyaat will be a first of its kind in terms of effects. In fact Agyaat is being made primarily for the special effects."

Says Ramu, "It's about a film crew that loses its way in the jungles. And something out there starts killing them one by one. Why a film crew? Because it's like a walking office.

There's a narcissistic star, a subservient spotboy, cameraman, a frustrated action director, an assistant director who has a crush on the heroine, a selfobsessed actor, a producer who thinks the director is making a mess and a director who thinks he's the Steven Spielberg of India …

All of them have their own mindscape in the given hierarchy. But the moment they's caught in terror situation their inherent humanism comes to the surface."

Ramu wants to tailor the plot like a reality show. "When you see Bigg Boss you see a group of people in an isolated place coping as best as they can.

We see their rapidly-changing inter-personal relationship. In my film the same happens. I'm shooting them in real time with characters whom we can identify with, like the hero who turns out a sissy.Can't cast an established actor there, can I?"

Ramu is casting largely newcomers. "Because I don't want the audience to watch these characters with pre-conceived notions.

A very basic Hollywood formula.."I know, but not done well in our cinema too often, I've always been fascinated by Hollywood's Aliens/ Blarewitch Project formula where a group of people are trapped in a situation and besieged by an enemy that they cannot see.

Someone is killing them one by one. And they're trying to get away. I don't know what that genre is called. But it's not a Friday the 13th where a psychopath on the prowl. It's more like Blairwitch Project where the killer is not visible to the eye.

In The Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers I remember one line. 'Why do we always expect alien creatures to invade a space ship. Why can't it be a biological invasion?' I want to explore this terror of the unknown."

Ramu is supremely kicked by his new project. "The challenging part in Agyaat is to create an evil force that's not visible, definable or even comprehensible.Some strange phenomenon in the jungle.

I read an interview with Ridley Scott where talking on Aliens he said, 'There's no need to understand what's happening during a time of terror. Because if you explain it you reduce the thrill of it.' Hence Agyaat, the unknown."

Agyaat will have some of the best special effects seen in Indian cinema. "It will be a projection of a destructive force from which the victims cam't hide or run. They simply succumb to it."

Ramu is as excited as ever. "I haven't done anything like Agyaat. I'm a great fan of this Hollywood genre.And I can't wait.The moment I call my film Agyaat (The Unknown) I can go into a hundred different dimensions of the unknown. "

Two years ago, Rohit Shetty came up with a breezy entertainer Golmaal, which, most people agree, is the capable director's finest work to date. The comic scenes hit the right notes and buttons. Perhaps, that must've prompted its producers (Shree Ashtavinayak) and Rohit to continue with the Golmaal series.

But Golmaal Returns treats the viewer like a nitwit, with zero brains. No-brainer laughathons have worked in the past and people have catapulted these films to 'must watch again and again' category. But Golmaal Returns is simply unbearable!

35 years ago, the Kiran Kumar - Radha Saluja comedy AAJ KI TAZAA KHABAR (1973) is the inspiration for Golmaal Returns. No issues with that, it's an interesting concept. But screenplay writer Yunus Sajawal makes a mincemeat of the material, so much so that your head starts aching after a point and you want to tear your hair in disgust.

Seriously, what was the writer thinking when he came up with a pathetic screenplay? And how did a talented director like Rohit Shetty agree to ride on it? And how could an accomplished actor like Ajay Devgan green signal this enterprise? Questions, questions, questions…

Golmaal Returns was never meant to be a thinking man's film, but the attitude is, no-brainer comedies have worked and this one will work too. To give the credit where it's due, a few jokes/sequences involving Tusshar and Shreyas do bring a smile on your face, but in the absence of a tight screenplay, the film falls like a pack of cards.

Final word? Golmaal hai bhai script Golmaal hai!

Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitly) from some goons.

Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife, who is also a hardcore fan of the saas-bahu serials, smell fish.

Gopal knows it's going to be hard to quell her suspicion, so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves. Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal), asking him to visit her.

Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade), to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the real Anthony turns up.

If that isn't complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera. The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha's boyfriend and also who cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him.

A sequel carries the baggage of humungous expectations. And you definitely expect Golmaal Returns to be a step forward. The makers had thundered, "Golmaal Returns is bigger, it's better" and that raises the bar. But the film is such a put off.

Writer Yunus Sajawal takes an interesting premise, but instead of upgrading it, only downgrades it with lacklustre situations. The writing is so weak, so lifeless that after a point you sit motionless, looking at the goings-on mechanically, instead of being a participant.

A few sequences do entertain you, but they're few and far between. Not enough to camouflage the defects. In view of the fact that the writing is so weak, there's not much that director Rohit Shetty can do to save the ship from sinking.

However, the dialogues are howlarious. Music is not as inspiring. 'Tha Karke' is the best track, while 'Tu Saala' (well promoted) isn't there in the film and 'Meow' comes during the end credits. And you're exasperated by then!

Golmaal Returns belongs to Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. Tusshar is terrific yet again, the real scene stealer, while Shreyas displays his comic side very well. Both, in fact, provide respite to the viewer. Ajay Devgan is likable. Kareena does the suspicious wife act well. Celina stays on your mind even after the show is over.

Arshad Warsi is relegated to the backseat. Amrita Arora is strictly okay. Anjana Sukhani gets no scope. Vrajesh Hirjee is alright. Sharat Saxena, Rakhi Vijan, Sanjay Mishra, Murli Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar fill in the blanks.

On the whole, there's tremendous curiosity to watch Golmaal Returns and the terrific promotion has only enhanced the excitement. But the film is a major letdown in terms of content.

Barring a few jokes and gags, this Golmaal pales when compared to its first part. At the box-office, expect a terrific start for the film, but Golmaal Returns lacks the power to stand on its feet after the initial euphoria settles down.

Some celebrities will go to any extent to make an additional buck. Or so does it seem.

We all remember Malaika Arora's blatant lies to the tabloid Mumbai Mirror where in order to create pre-event hype for a brand she was endorsing, she told senior Bollywood journalist and 'friend' Vickey Lalwani that she was divorcing her husband of many years – Aarbaz Khan.

The next day, however, the cat was out of the bag. It was just a publicity stunt and both Malaika Arora and Aarbaz were very much together. Mumbai Mirror went out of their way to blast Malaika Arora for her scheming ways.

This time around Malaika Arora seems to have clean forgotten her telephonic conversation and SMS messages exchanged between her, her secretary Dipali and freelance journalist and Celebrity Media Manager, Flynn Remedios just about a week ago.

According to a report published in a Delhi tabloid, Malaika seems to be heading for a fresh bout of trouble.

The actress, along with her manager, faces a possible ban from the yet- to-be-registered, Cine & TV Artiste Managers' & Secretaries' Forum following accusations that she refused to intervene after Car Maker Audi and their officials bypassed event agents and artiste managers to sign a deal with her for attending their launch party to be held on 7th November 2008 at the German Embassy in Delhi.

"It's a matter of ethics it's not just about the money. Malaika should have interceded because we personally spoke to her first and informed her about the deal.

Our celebrity agents worked hard to fix up all the details, including tentative date blockings, during the Diwali holidays. But then, the officials of Audi approached her directly claiming she is a family friend of the company's VP.

As a result, the agents involved were denied their due commission, " alleges Flynn Remedios, CEO, Futuristic Media Network and convener of the Cine & TV Artiste Managers' & Secretaries' Forum (CAMS).

According to Remedios, Audi officials through their Ad Agency, which was initially co-ordinating the event had asked them to contact Mallika Sherawat, Katrina Kaif, Mandira Bedi, Sophie Chowdhry and half a dozen other celebrities.

"We were asked to find out their professional fees, availability, tax issues, payment terms, travel, security and accommodation requirements, etc. For about two weeks a colleague was on the job. We were also working during the Diwali holidays.

It was not just Malaika. Audi and their Ad Agency had planned to fly several Bollywood personalities to Delhi for the event and wanted to know how much it would cost them, " said Flynn Remedios, adding that when Audi got all the required information, they went directly to Malaika and Sophie and booked them directly.

However, an honest and upright Sophie insisted that the agent who had contacted her first would be part of the deal and even offered to pay her a commission from her own pocket. But not Malaika! She even denied having spoken to Flynn Remedios.

CAMS has sent a formal complaint letter to the Cine Artiste's Association against Malaika and has also dashed out legal notices both to Malaika Arora and Audi.

Both Malaika and Audi claimed that they haven't received the notices with good reason, as legal notices are normally sent by Registered AD, which takes about 3-6 days for delivery, according to CAMS sources.

"We are also submitting a memorandum to Suryakant Mahadik, President, Bharatiya Kamgar Sena (BKS), of the Shiv Sena that controls the Film and allied Bollywood unions, on the issue, " adds Flynn.

Moreover, CAMS and Futuristic Media Network have also written a letter to the Chairman and members of the Board of Audi and their group company against what they term as "corruption, unethical and unfair practices of the company.

All over the world, it is a known fact that when an agent or co-ordinator is involved, he or she has to be paid the agents' commission.

Had Audi to even acknowledge our contribution, we would not have taken this step. But they told us that they had 'dropped' Malaika and then went and booked her directly. They are a bunch of blatant liars, " said an agitated Remedios.

Even some conscientious officials of the Ad Agency handling the event were upset and aghast with the way certain Audi officials behaved. "Apparently, nobody at Audi India wanted to take any kind of responsibility for this fiasco, " said Flynn.

We think that one of the car firm's managers is getting a kickback from Malaika's manager since both of them were hand-in-glove in denying the deal and tried very hard to keep it under wraps.

Rightfully, the commission should have come to us for working hard on the deal. It seems to us that 'our commission' is being shared between Malaika's manager Dipali and one of Audi's officials as both of them refused to speak to us or sort out the matter with us, " alleged Flynn.

When contacted, Malaika Arora not surprisingly denied everything.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. I am myself a member of the Cine Artiste Association and if there had been an issue, they would have surely contacted me. I don't know anything about it, " she claimed.

Speaking to another journalist, she even claimed that she had never heard of a person named Flynn Remedios. Coincidently, the same Flynn Remedios was about a year ago involved in organizing an event called Ms Bikini India and had personally met Malaika and her secretary Dipali as they wanted her to perform and compere the Ms Bikini Event. Maybe Malaika's age is taking a toll on her memory too.

Of late there has been news of the family friends getting back together.

At Fame Adlabs on Wednesday afternoon when Priyanka Chopra walked the ramp for the last time in Fashion she got a standing ovation.

And the one to get the most emotionally moved was her dad.

Watching Priyanka Chopra play the small-town girl who leaves home to become a model in the metropolis was a deeply emotional experience for Dr Ashok Chopra.

Says the emotional daughter, "He just broke down. Watching my character Meghna in Fashion he saw his little girl from Jamshedpur going all the way to Mumbai to become Miss World.

In fact his sense of identification with that whole portion in Chandigarh where I'm this plump Punjabi girl leading a sheltered life with her parents, was very deep, " says Priyanka from Dubai where she attended the Fashion premiere on Thursday night.

"I identified deeply with those scenes where my character is trying to find her way in Mumbai. The only difference is my my character Meghna knows exactly where she was going. I had no clue.

Also, my dad never stopped me from pursuing my dreams. He was concerned yes. But never disapproving like Meghna's father. In fact my dad moved to Mumbai to be with me when I decided to move to Mumbai."

Days after the film's release there's a sense of outrage about the fashion industry being shown as a place of constant undercutting and heartbreak.

Protests Priyanka, "It's like that in any competitive field. We slogged hard on the research. Madhur and I gave our life and blood to the film. I was in discussions over the script with Madhur for five months before I said yes to Fashion."

Priyanka wore a short dress a Gavin Miguel for the Dubai festival.

Some cast members of Do Knot Disturb who were shooting in Dubai came for the premiere.

Says Priyanka, "We had David Dhawan, Lara Dutt and Riteish who were shooting in Dubai. Then we had the royalty from Dubai. Earlier we had a special screening of Fashion for the modeling world in Mumbai.

I had a ball catching up with the old times, screaming and shouting. The best thing is that the fashion industry supported us in such a big way. But people from the fashion industry love Fashion.

We've definitely taken real-life incidents from the ramp. Even the wardrobe malfunction scene is so poignant. The designers, models, choreographers…they were all supportive."

Carol Gracias whose wardrobe malfunction scene has been taken in Fashion, saw the film.

"She loved the film. Carol thought it's very classily done, " says Priyanka. "The coolest thing is that my film has taken an initial opening on the basis of one heroine's presence (me). That surprises me because that goes against the rules of the film industry."

They are traditional rivals. When Shah Rukh entered the film industry, it was already dominated by the other two Khans, Salman and Aamir.
Shah Rukh however took them by surprise and went on to become the superstar. He not only displaced the other two Khans, and proved that at the box office every year -- his films made the maximum moolah at the box office.
Though Salman has acted in three films with SRK -- Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam -- Aamir has not yet shared screen-space with King Khan.
When Shah Rukh invited Aamir for the song, he simply said he was out of station, so could not come for the shoot.

Dev Anand The answer came as bolt from blue to director Farah Khan when she invited Dev Anand to do a special appearance in Om Shanti Om.
He reportedly told her, "I am Dev Anand. I never do special appearances. I never did, and will never do in the future."

It is not clear why Sridevi refused but if Bollywood gossip is to be believed then she wanted to share the platform with her husband Boney Kapoor, which Farah did not agree to.
Later on Sridevi gave a better excuse, saying she was busy and out of station.

Anil Kapoor One man whose stardom was completely run down by the Khan troika was Anil Kapoor. He was the biggest hero till the late 1980s, and was pegged as the next Amitabh Bachchan. Unfortunately, he could not sustain his popularity in the early 90s.
Bollywood gossip states that Kapoor was not on friendly terms with Farah Khan when she was a choreographer. He thought that she will not do justice to his special appearance song.
The trouble also came when the news broke out that Saawariya and OSO will be released on the same day.
Apparently, Anil did not wanted to be in the film that was pitched against his daughter Sonam Kapoor's debut film. He was straightforward and said he would not appear in the special song.

But newcomer Arjan Bajwa already has a full-fledged love- making scene with Priyanka Chopra in Fashion—her boldest to date, far more so than what she did with Akshay Kumar in Andaaz and Aitraaz.

Priyanka laughs off the suggestion of boldness in the love-making scene. "Please! You make it sound so HOTTTTTT! It is NOT! What's all this about explicit love scene?

Please, I'm too much of a girl nextdoor to do any of that. We don't kiss. But yes, Arjan and I do share a lovers' relationship. So yes, we do have a love scene. But it's nothing to get all hot and bothered about, not in today's day and age."

Interestingly Arjan isn't the first newcomer to do a love scene with a screen diva. Irrfan Khan had a torrid love sequence with the gorgeous Dimple Kapadia in his debut film Drishti and Shekhar Suman in his very film Utsav poured milk all over a semi-clad Rekha.

Laughs Arjan, "Was I nervous? You bet I was. Although I've done six Telugu films before Fashion I hadn't really done a love scene like this before, and that too with someone of Priyanka's stature.

To her credit Priyanka put all my nervousness to rest. If it wasn't for her I'd have died of anxiety. For a newcomer the co-star is decisive point in his confidence level for all times to come."

Laughs Priyanka, "Arjan was far more petrified than I imagined. I had to forget all my own nervousness."

Adds Madhur, "This isn't the first time that I've done intimate scenes with my lead pair. There was an even more sensitive scene between Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in Chandni Bar.

Page 3 had some really hardhitting moments of sexual content. Fortunately for me the actors trust me and my judgement. Priyanka surrendered completely to my vision. When you see her love scene with Arjan you'll realize there's absolutely nothing there that's meant to titillate."

Vidya Balan has a problem with John Abraham?

The latest is that Vidya Balan has walked out of a David Dhawan film.

A source has reportedly said, "Vidya is not doing UTV's 'Hook Ya Crook'. Vidya felt that after 'Salaam-E-Ishq', she and John needed to do a film which had substantial roles for both. She had reservations as Dhawan's heroines don't have much to do except sing, dance and look glamorous.

She voiced her concern to the director who promised to make changes in her role. Vidya wants to do more women-oriented roles. As she didn't want to upset David, she quietly opted out though the producer and David are insisting that Vidya is still doing it."

Vidya's spokesperson insists that she's not doing the movie because of the date issues. But the buzz is that it's because of the presence of lead actor John Abraham!

Looks like this has a lot to to do with the rumours of the linkup between the two on the sets of 'Salaam-E-Ishq'! Maybe Vidya isn't game for controversies anymore!

Jog your memory a bit. Samir Karnik's first two movies (KYUN HO GAYA NA, NANHE JAISALMER) have been critical and commercial disasters. But Samir has assembled an impressive cast for his new outing Heroes. The billboards look really impressive.

You think, chalo, dekhte hain, will Samir deliver this time? Will his fortunes change for better? Come to think of it, you saunter into the auditorium with zilch expectations. Heroes is an underdog.

Before we delve any further, let's clear a few misconceptions pertaining to this film. Just because the promos highlight the men in uniform, it doesn't mean Heroes is a 'war film'. Sure, it talks about love for the nation, but Heroes is not anti-Pakistan, is not jingoistic either, is nowhere close to BORDER, LOC and the likes, in terms of content.

Heroes talks about a journey undertaken by two boys and the three letters they've to deliver to the families of the deceased. Heroes is more of an emotional experience, how each family copes with life after their beloved has become a martyr.

Besides evoking strong emotions, Heroes also arouses strong patriotic feelings. There're moments in the film that compel you to salute those who guard our nation, so that we can sleep in peace. At the end, the message it delivers is simple -- You don't have to be a soldier to love your country.

Back to the two pertinent questions we raised at the outset. Question 1, Does Samir deliver? Heroes is a revelation. Cinema is all about narrating stories and Samir proves that he's a proficient storyteller.

Question 2, will he prove lucky this time? Well, Heroes has all it takes to strike a chord, with family audiences mainly. The moments linger in your memory much after the show has concluded.

Final verdict? Heroes salutes the Heroes who guard our nation. It's a powerful film. A moving experience!

Heroes is the story Sammy (Sohail Khan) and Ali (Vatsal Sheth) who travel a thousand miles to deliver three letters as a part of their film school assignment. But little do they know that the journey they have embarked upon will give a new meaning to their life.

Heroes unfolds in three chapters. But before that you get to see the wild side of two misled youth who don't take life seriously. The first chapter, Salman-Preity, is the highpoint of the film.

The emotional moments in this chapter are worth applauding. Note the moments between Salman-Preity and also between the kid (Dwij Yadav) and the two youth. The scene at the Indo-Pak border -- the fence dividing the two nations -- is amazing.

Watch Preity missing her husband and also embracing his uniform. Another brilliant stroke! This chapter deserves a 10 on 10 for its high emotional quotient and captivating performances.

Chapter 2 is slightly less impactful than Chapter 1. The portions between Sunny and Bobby are well executed, but the writing isn't as compelling. Yet, the fight sequence -- when a group of hooligans act smart with Sunny's girlfriend (Hrishitaa Bhatt) -- is superb.

Sunny's 'dhai kilo ka haath' and the way it shatters the tiles on the floor leaves a strong impact. Watch this sequence with the masses and you'd only hear whistles and claps. Another scene from this chapter -- Sunny paying his last respects to Bobby -- is moving.

The third chapter (Mithun, Dino) is the softest link. Nothing wrong with the writing or its execution, but something is missing, the pace suddenly dips. The match in the end works mainly because it has been edited well.

Samir Karnik takes giant strides as a storyteller. Binod Pradhan and Gopal Shah's cinematography is top notch. The DOPs have done complete justice to the panoramic locales of North India.

Sajid-Wajid's music is a major asset. 'Mannata' is the pick of the lot. What a soothing composition! Ditto for 'Makhana' (filmed on Sunny, Bobby). Dialogues are magnificent at places.

The ones who leave the maximum impression in this multi-starrer are, in this order, Salman (superb; one of his finest works), Preity (outstanding; has spoken Punjabi so fluently), Sohail (pleasant surprise; evolving into a very fine actor), Sunny (very likeable) and Mithun Chakraborty (mature).

Bobby is effective in a cameo. Wish he would've got more footage. Vatsal Seth is decent. Dino is just about okay. Dwij Yadav is first-rate. Prateeksha Lonkar is fair. Amrita Arora and Ria Sen are passable.

On the whole, Heroes is a genuinely well-made film with strong emotions as its trump card. At the box-office, the pre-Diwali dull phase notwithstanding, it has the merits to climb the ladder with a strong word of mouth. The film deserves to be tax-exempted for its noble theme and noble intentions.

Rahul Arora (Sameer Soni)
Designer extraordinaire and a visionary talent amongst young Indian designers, Rahul makes no compromises with both his fashion designs and his lifestyle.

He is the crowned king of the runway, the lead designer for the powerhouse brand Panache and his creations are adored by the glitterati.

Raaz 2 is Scary, really scary

Glamour meets thrill as the first theatrical promo of Raaz-The Mystery Continues will be showcased with upcoming movie Fashion on 29th October.

This writer had an exclusive dekko at the film's 90 seconds promo and the impact it has managed to create is truly stunning.

Get ready to jump from your seat and engage in some shocking moments as the promo catches your attention in the first 10 seconds itself. Kangna Ranaut hanging on a wall with a haunting background score in play is good enough to set the mood in for this horror flick which is next in the series of Raaz.

While there are a couple of shots featuring Adhyayan that give a romantic angle to the tale, the promo remains true to the film's subject of mystery and intrigue as Emraan Hashmi's character finds himself engaged in an all around suspicious environment.

What takes the cake though is a shot where Kangna suddenly jumps and sits up on her bed while giving out a loud cry. Scary, really scary!

What really stands out in the promo is that never once do the frames turn gory or ugly. Instead, the promo showcases the film to be a thrilling encounter with some spine chilling moments intact without resorting to 'let's scare you with ugly faces' look!

Also, the promo focuses on Kangna's character, who plays the central protagonist with Emraan Hashmi following next as the star attraction.
